Hello! This is my first blog post ever! I have always been a detailed and lengthy writer, so I will do my best to provide quality writing at a length that does not require me to call this a book. Haha. I am so excited to start this and share my photography journey with you!
I am just getting started. I have lots to learn but I am grateful to say that I am learning and growing everyday in my skills. I have had a camera in my hand for most of my life always loving to take plenty of pictures. Every family event would be met with glares as I flashed my camera in front of their face to capture the memories I never wanted to forget. Now I am after the job of capturing other's memories of milestones and cherished loved ones. I love the idea that a camera can "freeze time" and forever hold that memory in existence and memorialize a person--who they were, how they lived, and what they looked like for a time. Though some of my appearances should have never been captured in photos (i.e. my perm!)
So, a year ago I finally received my first "professional" camera--one of the best, if not THE best gift I have ever received for Christmas! I was so surprised and elated! Here I am now a year later, having been practicing on Manual mode for multiple months now, booking clients, taking photography classes to learn all the technical aspects and basic functions of my camera, studying and watching online webinars from top professionals, and gaining lots of experience while loving it every step of the way! I look for every excuse to pull out my camera, and my family is always obliging me in being my models. I'll tell ya, my nephew will grow up thinking a camera in his face is a normal thing all children experience, and boy is he photogenic! Photography is one of my deep passions--steering me away form my former love of painting. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art and love doing anything creative, in which photography feeds nicely.
It is people that I loved to paint and now love to photograph--I find the human connection so interesting. I love seeing a couple in love, photographing newlyweds, and fawning over two parents who are deeply in love with their new baby--and how cute are those babies?!
The photograph above is one of my recent shoots at a family's home. This is Amelia! She is beautiful and has piercing blue eyes (which you can't tell so much here). I was so proud of this shot. It was captured in the bedroom of her parents. The room had huge windows that drew in the perfect lighting that streamed across the master bed. The babies face was perfectly illuminated and even made the glitter on her little bow shine and glisten!
I am honored by any family that allows me to be a part of their journey and photograph it! What a vulnerable thing to allow someone come into your life, your space, your home and pose you as the subject to be displayed forever in time. It is something I do not take lightly. I am so excited to book more clients and capture more photographs such as these! Please feel free to check out this blog often to see my progressing journey and to inquire about your own photo session with me at any time!
My goal is to provide everyone with affordable photos they can save forever.
Blessings and Love,
Robin
